Summer and Smoothies!

I hope you are enjoying your summer so far!  As a mom, I am reminded daily of how important it is to take care of our health. While we cannot always control what happens to us health wise, we can control what we choose to put into our bodies and minds each and every day. I love seeing my daughters experiment with smoothies or ask me to make a new flavor for them. Sometimes they are winners, and sometimes they are not - and that's ok! We all have to fail before we succeed at really anything.  I start most days with a smoothie after working out, and the mornings that I do not, I typically have one in the afternoon to curb my appetite on that dreaded two hours before dinner time frame (who is with me?!). 

This month's Vibrant Strawberry Vanilla contains one of summer's sweetest and most delicious fruits - strawberries. It also contains beet powder, which is pure beets in a dry form, which are great for natural energy, detoxification, and give us a great dose of vitamin C which is a fighter for all things immunity. 

In the summer, in addition to plain almond milk, I also add coconut water! It is so great for extra hydration and as a tip - always look at labels so you know your coconut water contains only that - coconut water. NO sugar is needed because it is naturally sweet! Some brands have absorbic acid, which is ok, but definitely look for brands with no sugar (Trader Joe's has a great one).
